DiscoExposed is a DJ-led performance work exploring the tension between public image and embodied reality. Music provides structure while presence reveals what remains beneath presentation.

A masked performer operates within the formal language of control. Precision mixing, composed posture, disciplined broadcast, while the unmediated human form exists simultaneously within the frame. This deliberate juxtaposition examines how identity is constructed, displayed, and regulated.

The work does not present exposure as spectacle, but as condition. The mask conceals and reflects. The formal exterior signals legitimacy. The body remains constant.

Presented through still imagery, short-form video, and the weekly DiskoStick Uncovered livestream, DiscoExposed investigates duality: control and vulnerability, persona and presence, performance and existence.
WHO IS DISKOSTiCK?
DiskoStick is the performance persona at the centre of DiscoExposed.Defined by a constant visual language and mask, tailored exterior, and exposed human form - the character embodies the tension between public image and private identity. The mask represents projection and constructed identity. The suit signals legitimacy and authority. The uncovered body removes separation between performance and reality.Behind the persona stands a professional DJ, broadcaster and producer with decades of experience across live events, television, radio and music production. That foundation informs the discipline of the performance: precise mixing, controlled presence and a deep understanding of audience psychology.DiskoStick is not a character of spectacle, but of contrast. Respectability and vulnerability exist in the same frame. Authority and exposure coexist without apology.Through this tension, the persona reflects a broader condition. The distance between who we appear to be and who we are.

MANIFESTO
What is acceptable?
We accept curated images.
We accept facades.
We accept performances of respectability and the authority they project.
In public life, image often precedes truth.
Legitimacy is signalled through presentation.
Contradiction is managed through silence.
Societies defend appearances of order while negotiating the realities that remain unseen.
What is hidden is often tolerated.
What is visible is often judged.
The unfiltered human body, the condition shared by every person, is treated as something improper when it is no longer abstract, symbolic, or concealed.
Yet existence begins without image, without status, without disguise.
We are born without presentation.
Identity is constructed after.
DiscoStick examines the distance between what is performed and what is present. Between the persona that is accepted and the reality that persists beneath it.
The mask represents the identity we project and the roles we inhabit.
It conceals, but it also reflects. Returning the viewer’s gaze to themselves.
The formal exterior represents control, legitimacy, and the visual language of authority.
It is the uniform of acceptance.
The unmediated body represents existence prior to narrative.
Not spectacle, not statement. Simply presence.
Together these elements reveal a persistent contradiction: we regulate what is visible while accommodating what remains concealed.
Public respectability is often treated as evidence of integrity.
Yet image and behaviour do not share the same conditions of scrutiny.
This work does not expose individuals.
It observes a structure: the preservation of appearance as a condition of acceptance.
If the human form is considered offensive, what does that suggest about our relationship with existence itself?
If what is natural must be hidden to preserve comfort, what is being protected - and for whom?
This work does not seek provocation for its own sake.
It presents a condition and invites recognition.
We perform what is acceptable.
We conceal what is human.
Between control and vulnerability, between image and presence, between authority and embodiment. The distance is maintained by agreement.
What we reject is often what we are.
